Wonderful for Vegans and Omnivores alike! August 31, 2010 Amanda L. Calhoon (California, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have had this book for going on two years; never fails! Every recipe I have tried thus far has been quite good. As with any book they range from amazing to good....nevertheless, it has afforded me the opportunity to try many flavor combinations I would have not thought of in many instances. I appreciate that almost everything is made from scratch....though this also means that making a quick meal is difficult if prep work is not done prior. To note...there is a section highlighting dinners in under 45 minutes.
Great work!!! Definitely a vegan masterpiece. I have had many of my omnivore friends (some who say Veganism is a kind of extreme cult) love these dishes, and are suprised to hear they are vegan. Suprise others and yourself with some foodie fabulous vegan faire!
Great cookbook! August 25, 2010 smalltownvegan (Greeville, NC) I've had this cookbook for some time, but did not use it because it looked a little intimidating. That was a mistake, because this book is wonderful. The recipes are creative, fun to make, and taste excellent. There is a lot of useful hints to help speed up the process. I also love how it is broken up into quicker recipes and ones that take longer. Given the reliability of these authors, it's nice to know that if I spend money and time making a recipe it will be good. I've made a number of things and have favorites in each sections: sandwiches (the muffuletta), dressings (jalapeno corn gravy is soo good), entrees (BBQ collard rolls), desserts (double chocolate walnut). This book is my new go to book!
Awesome Cookbook!! August 10, 2010 Elise Cardwell (SD, CA USA) This is such a great cookbook! The recipes are awesome and fun to make. I've made a few things for avid meat eaters and they all want the recipe because it's so damn good. Even my meat eating fiance is an at home vegan with help from this great book. I recommend to everyone, even people who just like good eats :)

Girlfriend and I have made several of the recipes in Veganomicon and we have enjoyed all of them.
My Kitchen Bible July 30, 2010 PaigeM 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I'd been eating vegetarian since childhood and was getting really tired of vegetarian recipes that relied heavily on eggs and dairy ingredients. Veganomicon blew my culinary mind wide open (and I lost 3 pounds without even trying). I have never eaten such colorful, delicious, unique food. This book has shown me how to cook some yummy go-to dinners, and has given me the confidence to experiment a lot more than I used to. If you want to go to the farmer's market and bring home whatever veggies look good, go right ahead because this book probably has an awesome recipe for them, and if not, it will at least tell you how to oven roast them and give you a couple ideas for side dishes.
No matter what your eating practices currently are, this book will give you great new ideas to incorporate, and the chocolate-raspberry cookie recipe is worth the price of the book. I've owned the book for over a year and I still refer to it regularly and find new recipes inside that I didn't notice before.
My only complaint is that there seem to be a lot of typos, but I'm just picky about that sort of thing.
